sweet pill + lost cause mgmt

A promotional poster for local band, Sweet Pill. The show took place at the popular DIY LA venue, The Smell. I work closely with all artists managed by Lost Cause Management. The most interesting part about this poster is that I had a finished design that I didn’t save properly and I ended up losing all my work. The concept was completely different than this one, but the thought of having to recreate the old design sounded like a nightmare, so I went with a new concept. The Smell is a DIY spot so I wanted this poster to scream DIY, but in the way myself and many other teens DIY’d (with heavy inspo from Rookie Mag). I wanted doodles and stickers as if this poster was a snap shot of doodles of local bands from a 16 y/o kid’s 3 subject Mead notebook. As someone who collaged a good amount growing up, I knew I couldn’t just photoshop a collage, I could tell the difference, so I sat and cut and pasted like I was 16. This was easily the most fun I’ve had making a design for a client.
